Perry Allows More Damaging Evidence “In” at Casey’s Murder Trial

Late on Wednesday, Judge Belvin Perry ruled against the Casey Anthony defense allowing more damaging evidence to be introduced at her first degree murder trial.

Perry ruled that the presence of chloroform which was found in the trunk of Casey’s car could be introduced by the state.

The Anthony Defense had filed a motion to exclude any mention of chloroform by any witness at trial.  Casey’s defense team contended that the methodology and conclusions reached by the research lab on the presence of chloroform were not sound.

The presence of chloroform was found to be about 10,000 times greater than what one would expect, the prosecution has said.

The prosecution is certain to make a connection between this evidence and chloroform searches on a computer in the Anthony family home believed to be conducted by Casey, in an effort to prove that Caylee’s death was not accidental.

Perry is still to rule on whether air samples taken from Casey’s car trunk and plant and root growth, found at the crime scene near Caylee’s remains can be introduced  by the state.

Casey Anthony is charged with first degree murder in the death of her two-year-old daughter, Caylee. She has maintained her innocence and has said her daughter was kidnapped by a baby sitter. The child’s remains were found in a wooded area near the Anthony family home, in December 2008.

Anthony is in the Orange County Jail awaiting trial which is expected to commence on May 9, 2011.
