The Lake County Parks & Trails Division is inviting residents to take part in two of its upcoming Monthly Bird and Butterfly Surveys.
The first will be held on Friday, July 20, at the Palatlakaha Environmental and Agricultural Reserve (PEAR Park) Nature Center, located at 4800 University Ave. in Leesburg, from 7 to 11 a.m. The second of the surveys will take place on Saturday, July 21, from 7 to 11 a.m. at the Ferndale Preserve, located at 19220 County Road 455 in Ferndale.
With both events, volunteers are asked to assist in monitoring the bird and butterfly diversity at each location, as ongoing restoration and land management continues at the sites. Experience is a plus but not required.
The events are free, and would-be participants are encouraged to bring water, snacks, sunscreen, insect repellent, a hat, binoculars, field guides and hiking shoes. Reservations are encouraged, but not required.
For more information about upcoming events, or to make reservations to attend one of the events, call the Lake County Parks & Trails Division at 352-253-4950, email [email protected] or visit www.lakecountyfl.gov/parks.
