Tiffany Inge, an AmeriCorps VISTA member serving with the Heart of Florida United Way (HFUW), was recently presented with the Volunteer Florida Champion of Service Award.

Inge was recognized at a Governor’s Commission on Community Service meeting by Chester Spellman, CEO of Volunteer Florida.

Inge recently completed her year of service at Palmetto Elementary, where she recruited mentors, secured community partnerships and coordinated special projects to benefit the Palmetto students and teachers. As a result of her efforts, 233 volunteers contributed 1,000 hours of service to the school.

The local VISTA program “Together for Tomorrow,” led by HFUW, engages AmeriCorps VISTA members to recruit community volunteers to support Title I public schools in Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties.
