An elderly man died on Tuesday afternoon when a house fire got out of control on Hancock Lane, Orange County Sheriff’s deputies said.
According to deputies around 1:24 pm, on Tuesday, OCSO received a call in connection with a man inside a home at 707 Hancock Lane which was on fire. OCSO deputies and Orange County Fire Rescue responded to the scene, but were too late to save the man.
Witnesses told investigators that the elderly man was trying to burn trash, but the fire got out of control.
Deputies have not released the name of the victim, as the medical examiner has not officially ruled on the cause of death.
