OCSO: Second Bomb Threat in One Week

For the second time in one week, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office faced a hoax bomb threat, but this time, the unknown male caller indicated he was going to blow up the OCSO Communication Center located at 6590 Amory Court on Orange County’s east side.  The call was made around 1:45 pm on Tuesday.

Deputies evacuated the first floor of the building which houses the fire department personnel. The second floor of the building in which the 9-1-1- Communication Center is located, was not evacuated. The perimeter of the building and its interior were searched for any signs of a suspicious device.  At 3:15 pm the complex was deemed safe, no device was found, and personnel were allowed to re-enter the building.

A statement from the Sheriff’s Office said that the bomb threat did not affect the agency’s patrol function or its ability to respond to calls for service and there was no disruption of calls received for assistance from the public, including 9-1-1/emergency calls.

On December 21st, one week ago, a similar bomb threat, that turned out to be false, was received at OCSO’s Central Operation Complex at 2500 West Colonial Drive.
