OUC senior management is recommending that the OUC board confirm MCR Performance Solutions to enhance OUC’s customer-facing energy efficiency (EE) programs after a request for proposals was issued in June. A committee comprised of various stakeholders throughout the community made the recommendation citing the company’s extensive experience building upon existing EE programs.
Energy Efficiency not only helps OUC customers save money, it also serves as important tool in the utility’s commitment to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2050, with interim goals of 50% CO2 reduction by 2030 and 75% by 2040.
OUC already offers numerous incentives, rebates and programs aimed at reducing customer energy consumption and bills and has made a $30 million commitment to efficiency and conservation efforts by 2030. Between 2018 and 2020, OUC provided 8,389 residential and commercial rebates or incentives totaling more than $4.6 million throughout the utility’s current 16 energy efficiency programs, which include:
- Efficiency Delivered – Provides up to $2,500 of energy and water efficiency upgrades in residential customers’ homes.
- Free In-person and Online Energy Audits – OUC Conservation Specialists review customers’ consumption patterns and inspect homes to determine what improvements could be made to lower utility bills.
- Residential and Commercial Rebates – OUC’s current energy efficiency programs include 16 rebates tailored for residential and commercial customers designed to help them save.
To build on that success, and because technology is changing so rapidly, OUC will work with the selected vendor to develop recommendations that will optimize energy-saving opportunities for residential and commercial customers.
The company should begin work shortly with a comprehensive analysis due by the end of 2021.
