As part of the local efforts to eliminate traffic fatalities and serious injuries and as a Future-Ready city that embraces new technologies, the City of Orlando is excited about their newest crosswalk safety feature. They say they are “stepping into the future, one crosswalk at a time.”
A midblock crosswalk on Primrose Drive now features state-of-the-art technology that will detect pedestrians via infrared heat technology. When a person is detected, the beacon lights turn on – no button needed!
By making changes like this, the city said it hopes it can help keep more residents safe, and make Orlando a more walkable city for all to enjoy.
