The City of Orlando Redistricting Advisory Board (RAB) will hold a public working session today, Tuesday, August 2, at 6:00 pm, at the Council Chambers on the 2nd floor of Orlando City Hall, 400 South Orange Avenue, in Downtown Orlando.
The board will introduce and discuss board-generated map proposals and take public comment, including any map proposals the public may wish to offer.
The series of public meetings, including community meetings being held by the 9-member City of Orlando Redistricting Advisory Board, are in support of the redrawing of commission boundaries which takes place every ten years, based on the federal Census data. The basic purpose of redistricting is to ensure each City Commission district has equal population distribution in an effort to assure equality of representation.
On July 27, about 20 persons attended the Redistricting Advisory Board public meeting during which various map proposals were considered. All members of the public are encouraged to attend and provide input regarding proposed changes to the City of Orlando commission districts at each of the community meetings.
