An Orlando Police Officer shot and killed an armed robbery suspect of a commercial business on Kirkman Road on Tuesday afternoon, a statement from OPD said.
According to the statement, police responded around 2:11 pm on Tuesday to an armed commercial robbery at a game shop in the 2400 block on south Kirkman Road. Police said that the suspected robber fled the scene, but his vehicle was located at Hiawassee Road and Colonial Drive. According to OPD, the suspect resisted and was shot and killed by an officer.   It is not clear how many bullets were fired.
The suspect, whose name has not been released, was transported to Health Central Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
No officers was injured in the shooting.
All southbound lanes on Hiawassee from Colonial are shut down and all northbound traffic on Hiawassee from SR 408 is also closed.
The officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave.  The names of the officers involved have not been released.
