Magic’s New Season Begins Thursday

The Orlando Magic will make their season debut in the new Amway Center when they face the Washington Wizards on Thursday, October 28. Gates open at 6 p.m., while fans are encouraged to be in their seats by 7:55 p.m. for pregame festivities.

To celebrate this momentous occasion, the team will hold a special pregame presentation, including a building dedication with Orlando Magic Chairman Rich DeVos, Orlando Magic President Alex Martins, NBA Commissioner David Stern and Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, culminating with a high energy video on the NBA’s tallest, most high-definition, center-hung videoboard. Orlando Magic All-Star Dwight Howard will also address the crowd.

Other opening night highlights include:

§  A halftime performance by local performance painter, Rock Demarco, whose painting will be auctioned off for the Orlando Magic Youth Foundation.

§  A commemorative opening night poster giveaway courtesy of Sports & The Arts to the first 18,500 fans and a Kia tip-off week T-shirt to the first 10,000 fans.

§  An exciting Fan Fest, free and open to the public, on Church Street (between Hughey and Division) which will feature:

o   A high definition screen on the plaza to watch game for those without tickets

o   Inflatable games

o   Face painting

o   Balloon art

o   Entertainment by Baby Grands

Fan Fest activities begin at 6 p.m.
