Orlando Nabs Top Spot for Spring Break Vacationers

Orlando grabs the top spot for the most popular Spring Break destination from March and April 2010, according to HomeAway Inc., the World’s leading online vacation rental marketplace, which today released its quarterly “HomeAway Vacation Rental Marketplace Report”.  This is good news in a tough economy.

The traveler survey inquiries show that 65 percent of travelers who looked into the availability of vacation rentals say they plan to stay in one between March and May and Florida beaches are still popular for spring travel.

The second most popular hot spot was Miami, followed by Panama City.  New York held the fourth position.  The remaining destinations in order of popularity were: Fort Lauderdale, Destin, Daytona, Fort Myers, Marco Island and Clearwater–all in Florida.

Travelers are increasingly looking more to vacation rentals as options for places to stay, given that they provide more value and can accommodate more people.

Approximately 34 percent of vacation rental owners surveyed say they will offer some type of special deal or incentive to attract renters during the Spring Break season.

Beyond Spring Break 2010, the most recent HomeAway report continues to show strong traveler interest in vacation rentals. More than nine in 10 travelers (93 percent) who looked into the availability of vacation rentals in the past say they expect to stay in one at some point in 2010.
