Orlando Man Murdered Victim, Ongoing Dispute Ended in Intersection Shooting

An Orlando man murdered another man after an ongoing dispute ended in a fatal shooting at an intersection.

An Orange jury found an Orlando man, 28-year-old Mykenry Francois, guilty of First Degree Murder with a Firearm after he fatally shot a man in 2021.

On July 14, 2021, the victim, 22-year-old Bryan Felix, was a passenger in a vehicle that approached the intersection of Americana Boulevard and San Antonio Boulevard. The defendant was in a separate vehicle behind the victim’s car.

As the vehicles stopped at the intersection, Francois exited his car, ran into the road and fired several shots at the first car, hitting the victim multiple times. Francois ran to a nearby apartment complex and the driver of the vehicle the victim was in pulled into a gas station.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. Medics took the victim to the hospital where he later died from his injuries. Detectives obtained surveillance video from the intersection where the shooting happened that showed the moments when the shooter stepped out of the vehicle and fired at the victim.

Four days after the shooting, Orange County Sheriff’s deputies responded to an apartment at 2000 Cabo San Lucas Drive where Francois lived for an unrelated domestic violence call. Deputies found a firearm inside the apartment in a basket next to the bed where Francois was lying. The shell casings found at the shooting scene were a match to the gun located at the apartment.

Francois denied knowing the victim and committing the shooting when detectives interviewed him. However, during the investigation, detectives learned about an ongoing dispute between the victim and Francois. The defendant blamed the victim for hitting him with a bat and breaking his arm and also believed the victim shot his brother just two days prior.

After a three-day trial, a jury found Francois guilty as charged for the murder of Mr. Felix. The judge sentenced Francois to life in prison.
