Orlando Magic All-Stars Dwight Howard and Jameer Nelson have had a busy summer.  Howard hosted over 400 youth at his basketball camps at the University of Central Florida on August 4-6.  His camp provided scholarships to underserved youth through the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Florida and the YMCA of Central Florida.  The camps were held in Atlanta, Howard’s hometown, and Orlando.  Howard also plans to participate in Basketball Without Borders in South Africa in September.

Nelson recently took part in The Ramsay Basketball Center dedication ceremony (the center is named for Hall of Fame coach Dr. Jack Ramsay) this summer at his alma mater, Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia.  He contributed to the project as well with the naming of the men’s basketball locker room after Nelson.  Along with his work at St. Joseph’s, Nelson created and sponsored the Chester-based Team Nelson AAU program in his hometown of Chester, Pa. this summer. The program is more than just basketball to Nelson as he promotes to the youth basketball and academics, responsibility, social consciousness, and pride in the community.
