Passenger traffic at Orlando International Airport in April remained virtually unchanged compared to the same time last year, Greater Orlando Aviation Authority said. Traffic increased overall by a mere 0.16 percent.

Officials said, the slight gain was due directly to international traffic which registered an 8.2 percent increase. Meanwhile, domestic traffic decreased by 0.78 percent for the month of April 2012, compared to the same period last year.

Nearly 3.2 million passengers moved through the Airport in April, the Authority said.

Orlando International Airport is the gateway to 12.4 million passengers yearly, or 22.5 percent of the 55 million visitors to Central Florida.

The Airport has more non-stop domestic service than any other airport in Florida.  Recently Alaska Airlines announced new non-stop service, five days-a-week to San Diego, California beginning October 11, later this year, the Authority also said.
