Gas Prices Still Falling

Average retail gasoline prices in Orlando have more than 6 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.43 per gallon yesterday. This compares with the national average that has fallen 6.5 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.58 per gallon, according to gasoline price website OrlandoGasPrices.com.

Including the change in gas prices in Orlando during the past week, prices yesterday were 80.0 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 26.0 cents per gallon lower than a month ago. The national average has decreased 21.0 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 84.0 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago.

According to AAA, falling gas prices are due to the lower cost of crude oil and lower demand.

Prices are expected to fall even more with the recent release of 30 million barrels of oil from the reserve in the U.S. market by the Obama administration.   Some observers have suggested the release is politically motivated, but the White House says its because of supply disruptions in the Middle East.
