A youth football coach was arrested on Friday, accused of performing lewd acts in the presence of children, Orlando police said.
54-year-old Jeffery Kerr McWhorter was taken into custody by detectives of the OPD Special Victims Unit, and charged with two counts of soliciting lewd acts on a child and lewd/lascivious exhibition.
McWhorter has been coaching youth football for 32 years and most recently volunteered for the City of Orlando football and basketball leagues which practice at Lorna Doone Park, police said.
Following his arrest, McWhorter said he wasn’t even clear why he was being arrested and denied every perpetrating lewd acts on any children, according to news reports.
Detectives won’t say how they learned of McWhorter’s alleged behaviour, but are encouraging anyone who believes their child may have been a victim to contact the Orlando Police Department.
McWhorter was booked into the Orange County Jail on Friday night.
