Fast food workers in 150 cities in the United States, including Orlando, will protest today the low-wages paid in the industry.
Workers at Burger King, McDonald’s, Wendy’s and other restaurants will walk out at noon Thursday, according to reports.
In Orlando, for the first time, fast food workers will meet at the Walgreens at 8050 International Drive to protest and strike. According to reports, U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson and members of the clergy will lend their support to workers by joining the protest.
Other first-time cites in which protest will be held include, Miami, Philadelphia and Sacramento.
U.S. workers are demanding that hourly wages be raised to $15 an hour. The strikes and protests come against the backdrop of growing calls for raising the federal minimum wage to $10.10.

Florida’s minimum wage is currently $7.93 an hour. Recent bills before the GOP-led Legislature, to increase the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour, failed to get to the House Floor.
