The Democratic National Convention announced that Orlando Congressman Maxwell Alejandro Frost, the first member of Generation Z elected to serve in Congress, will deliver an evening speech on the main stage at the DNC convention on the final day.
The Central Florida Democrat is expected to speak during the 6pm hour CT on August 22nd, a day convention organizers have themed “For Our Future.”
Speakers will emphasize the critical message that the 2024 presidential election is a fight for the future of our country.
Rep. Frost’s remarks will take place the same day Vice President Kamala Harris will officially take the DNC stage to accept the Democratic nomination – a major moment for the Gen Z member of Congress.
Local Democrats will be gathering for a DNC Convention watch party in Orlando as Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris accepts the nomination. There could be added local enthusiasm now that Rep. Maxwell Frost is speaking at the DNC Convention.
“I am honored to be taking the stage in Chicago on Thursday, where alongside hundreds of thousands of Americans, I will highlight that Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are the best choice if we want to save our planet from the climate crisis,” said Congressman Maxwell Frost. “The climate crisis is here, and Floridians know that our state is ground zero. We must elect Kamala Harris as the President of the United States for our people, our democracy, and our planet.”
Rep. Frost had a big primary night victory in Florida’s 10th congressional district this week. The Democrat, who is wrapping up his first term in the United States House of Representatives after his historic election at just 25 years old, won in a landslide victory with nearly 82 percent of the vote over his Democratic challengers.
“I want to thank the Democrats of Florida’s 10th Congressional District for giving me the honor of being our party’s nominee this year. This nomination is something I do not take lightly or for granted,” Congressman Maxwell Frost said after the election victory. “I’m proud of the hundreds of volunteer shifts our campaign has put in over the past several months to not only elect me, but help elect good Democrats up and down the ballot across Central Florida. Now, we must set our eyes towards the general election in November. I look forward to working hard to earn the support of our community to represent them for another term in the United States Congress.”
