The Orange County Voters League is partnering with the Orange County League of Women Voters and City Commissioner Sam Ings to sponsor “The Final Forum” ahead of the November 4, elections for local community members. The “Final Forum” will take place on October 18th from 10am to 1pm at the Dr. J. R. Smith Neighborhood Center on Bruton Boulevard in Orlando.
The community forum will provide an opportunity to ask questions of all six candidates for the offices of Orange County Clerk of the Court, County Commission District 2 and County Commission District 6.
In the race for Clerk of the Court, Democrat Tiffany Moore Russell, currently the County Commissioner for District 6, is facing off against Eddie Fernandez, who was appointed to the position by Rick Scott. Democrat Alvin Moore is squaring off against Republican Bryan Nelson for County Commission District 2. In County Commission District 6, the race will be decided between two Democrats, Derrick Wallace and Victoria Siplin.
Members of the public are encouraged to submit their own questions on the issues most important to them.
“The races may be different, but this forum will help every affected voter make final decisions about each of the candidates as we approach election day,” organizers stated in a flier for the event.
The Dr. J.R. Smith Neighborhood Center is located at 1923 Bruton Boulevard in Orlando.
