Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs announced the formation of the Puerto Rico Trade & Commerce Workgroup. The workgroup, headed by County Commissioner Lui Damiani (District 3), is composed of business executives from Central Florida and Puerto Rico.
The workgroup will formulate strategies that facilitate trade and economic development between Puerto Rico and Orange County. It will also make recommendations to Jacobs on how business might be boosted between the two regions.
The establishment of the workgroup follows a recent trip to Puerto Rico by Jacobs and business executives in Orange County, in partnership with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando.
“I am excited to be working alongside business professionals who are engaged in creating jobs and achieving economic growth in the Hispanic community,” stated Jacobs. Our community benefits from its strong relationship with Puerto Rico. These bonds will enable the workgroup to highlight new economic opportunities.”
