Orange County Steps Up Traffic Enforcement, Public Awareness

The Orange County Community Traffic Safety Task Force in conjunction with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office will conduct a saturation/roving operation in an effort to reduce the numbers of traffic accidents resulting in fatalities, and injuries on the streets and highways of Orange County.

This Operation will take place on Saturday, March 14, from 6:00 p.m. until 3:00 a.m.Sunday, March 15, 2009.  It will take place from the University of Central Florida Police Department’s parking lot and will be spearheaded by Captain Ralph Groover, Incident Commander and Deputy Sheriff Claude Leslie, Operations Coordinator.

The Operation is multi-jurisdictional involving several police agencies.

The goal of the operation is to enforce traffic laws and efficiently remove suspended offenders and traffic violators from the highways.   High profile saturation/roving patrol operations have been a valuable tool in law enforcement and has increased public awareness of the dangers of impaired and aggressive driving.
