The School Board of Orange County Tuesday approved five comprehensive needs projects to move into the construction phase.
The five elementary schools are part of the 15 renovation projects that the district accelerated last year. In March 2008, the school district adjusted its aggressive building program budget to advance school renovations and inject a financial boost to the local economy. The budget adjustments affect comprehensive renovation projects funded from the half-penny sales tax.
The five comprehensive needs projects have gone through the planning and design phases and will move into the construction phase on June 1, 2009.
By starting these projects sooner, the district has saved money on construction costs and stimulated the local economy by providing more jobs for the construction industry. The schools are Lakeville Elementary, Pinewood Elementary, Riverdale Elementary, Rosemont Elementary and Southwood Elementary.
