Orange County Recognized as a National Leader in Digital Initiatives

Orange County has been proactive in greenlighting initiatives that streamline delivery of government services, including encouraging open data, collaboration, and shared services; enhanced cybersecurity; and innovative ways to deliver disaster response and recovery efforts. This dedication to technology practices has reportedly served the County well, and now it has been recognized on a national level.




The Center for Digital Government (CDG) and the National Association of Counties (NACo) recently announced the winners of the Digital Counties Survey 2021. The survey, conducted by CDG in partnership with NACo, identifies the best technology practices among U.S. counties, and Orange County has been ranked 4th in the entire nation in the 1,000,000 or More Population Category.

“This is an important recognition,” said Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings. “We live in a digital age that requires we incorporate tech solutions to streamline services and enhance cybersecurity. I feel like we’re continuing to create a digital-friendly environment that benefits all Orange County residents and employees.”

“The coronavirus pandemic underscored the urgent need for bold, cutting-edge approaches to serving our residents, and technology has played a major role,” said NACo Executive Director Matthew Chase. “This year’s Digital Counties Survey winners have demonstrated true leadership when it was needed the most. We applaud their innovation and expertise in leveraging technology to achieve county goals.”
