Youth ages 5 through 14 can register now through November 21st for the Junior Magic basketball winter league at six Orange County Parks. League play is January 8th – March 19th, 2011 (dates subject to change). Age is determined as of January 1, 2011, for all divisions and requires a birth certificate.
The following Orange County Parks’ facilities will host Junior Magic basketball:
- East: South Econ Recreation Center, 407-254-9092
- West: Barnett Park, 407-836-6248
- North: Goldenrod Recreation Center, 407-254-9025
- South: Meadow Woods Recreation Center, 407-254-9065
- Northwest: Silver Star Recreation Center, 407-254-9250
- Conway/Airport Area: Barber Park, 407-254-6860 (all age divisions at Barber Park are recreational)
Age divisions will be as follows:
- Division 1: 5/6 co-ed, recreational only
- Division 2: 7/8 co-ed, recreational only
- Division 3: 9/10 co-ed, competitive and recreational
- Division 4: 11/12 co-ed, competitive and recreational
- Division 5: 13/14 co-ed, competitive and recreational
For the recreational league, youth ages 5/6, 7/8, 9/10/11/12 and 13/14 learn skills but are not required to travel for games; cost is $40 per child and includes a jersey, certificate and a ticket to a Magic game. The competitive league, comprised of full teams and requiring travel, is for ages 9/10, 11/12 and 13/14; cost is $600 per team and includes jerseys, certificates, tickets to a Magic game, playoffs and playoff winner awards.
