Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) now has 10 percent fewer “A” rated schools based on the performance on FCAT 2.0, although the number of “B” schools increased by seven percent, a release from OCPS stated Thusday.
Although more challenging standards were introduced in 2012 since the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) began in 1999, there were some standout schools, including Hiawassee, Kaley, and Ivey Lane elementary schools.
According to OCPS:
- Hiawassee earned its first “A” ever jumping from last year’s “C”
- Kaley’s 2011 “F” grade is no longer; the school is graded a “B”
- Ivey Lane earned a “B” after two consecutive years as a “C”
Nineteen schools have consistently earned a grade of “A” since their students began taking FCAT.
The state as a whole experienced a 15 percent decline in “A” rated schools.
The following chart highlights OCPS schools with an increase in grades of one and more.
