Orange County Deputy Sheriff Hits, Kills Pedestrian

An investigation is underway into the death of a pedestrian struck and killed by an Orange County Sheriff’s deputy early on Wednesday morning.

It happened just after 3:00 a.m. near 3801 east Wetherbee Road.

Deputy Joey Busque was on detail attempting to deter illegal street racing, when the 21-year-old Kissimmee man, darted into the path of his patrol cruiser.   According to news reports there was a crowd of about 100 persons in the area who started to disperse as officers arrived.

The name of the deceased is Brian Pacheco-Sanchez.

Deputy Busque, who was hired by the Orange county Sheriff’s Office in June, 2008, is assigned to Uniform Patrol Sector 1. He will be re-assigned to administrative duties for less than one week as per OCSO policy.

Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is investigating the accident and charges could be pending.
