Operation Guinness Busts 26 for DUI over St. Patrick’s Day Weekend

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrested 26 individuals for DUI during the weekend’s “Operation Guinness.”

Operation Guinness was a countywide effort to crack down on impaired driving over the St. Patrick’s Day weekend. HCSO conducted a total of 316 traffic stops to ensure that drivers adhered to traffic laws and did not get behind the wheel intoxicated.

HCSO St. Patrick’s Day weekend totals:

  • 316 Traffic Stops
  • 28 Citations
  • 295 Warnings
  • 26 DUI
  • 6 Other Arrests

“With St. Patrick’s Day occurring during Spring Break, we were anticipating a heavy influx of drivers on our roadways,” said Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Thanks to the diligence of our DUI Unit and our patrol deputies, drivers that could have seriously injured themselves or other drivers spent a night in the Orient Road Jail rather than on our roadways. We are fortunate the weekend passed without any major incidents.”
