OPD Officer Bonds Out of Jail

The Orlando Police officer who was arrested by one of his fellow officers on Wednesday morning, on charges of battery and false imprisonment, bonded out of jail just after 5:30 pm.

38-year-old Officer Dante Candelaria is accused of beating  up 18-year-old Bryan Payne in January.   According to reports, Candelaria threw Payne up against the wall at McCoy Elementary School, then unto the ground and punched him.  The incident was caught on surveillance camera, but the video has not been released.

Candelaria, arrested on Wednesday morning, was charged with two counts of false imprisonment and one battery count.  He was released on bail on a $11,000 surety bond.

Candelaria who bonded out of jail around 5:30 pm on Wednesday, declined all interview requests.

An officer with the OPD Gang Unit, Candelaria has been suspended, pending the outcome of his case.
