OIA Breaks International Travelers’ Record

A record 3.2 million international passengers arrived at the Orlando International Airport (OIA) in 2010, an increase of 9 percent over the previous record set in 2009, a statement from the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority said. Combined passenger arrivals were nearly 34.9 million for 2010, up 3.5 percent over 2009.

“Breaking through the 3 million passenger level for international travelers is a high point for Orlando International,” said Phil Brown, Executive Director of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority. “This indicates the appeal and value of the Central Florida destination. We will continue to work with Visit Orlando (formerly the Convention and Visitors Bureau) and our community partners to target overseas markets that may give us the greatest opportunity to make 2011 another record breaking year”.

OIA also experienced a rebound in domestic travel, up nearly 3 percent over 2009. A sizeable increase in service to domestic destinations such as Tallahassee, FL; San Francisco, CA; Los Angeles, CA; Omaha, NE; and Huntsville, AL also helped push figures upward.
