After 5 months of submitting campaign finance activity ‘waivers,’ one would have assumed that Victoria Siplin waved the white flag! But not so fast.
As of January 31, 2014, Victoria Siplin decided to claim her stake in the Orange County Commissioner District 6 race, by raising $1,750. The cash came from only two donors, which makes me wonder if she will be able to effectively compete with the same supporters the Siplins have traditionally leaned on. It will take far more than $1,750 to seriously challenge well-funded candidates like Derrick Wallace and Roberta Walton, who are also vying to become the next commissioner for this district.
Before deciding on who will be your next Orange County District 6 Commissioner, here are just a few questions I want you to ponder:
- Who and what entities gave money to each candidate and what do they expect in return?
- Who has a realistic and detailed plan to move the district forward?
- Which candidate actually has a proven track record of success?
These and many other concerns I will be bringing to the forefront, as we move forward to the primary election on August 26, 2014.
