OCSO Takes You Behind The Scenes, Fall 2009

Have you ever wondered what it is like to see a crime scene through the eyes of an Orange County Deputy Sheriff?  If you have, Sheriff Demings has a deal for you!  Applications are now being accepted for the Fall, 2009 edition of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Civilian Police Academy.

The 13-week fall session begins on Tuesday, September 1, 2009.  The academy meets once a week, every Tuesday night, at the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Central Complex, 2500 West Colonial Drive, between 6:30 PM and 9:30 PM.
The FREE informational curriculum is designed to provide academy attendees with a tremendous amount of information about the many divisions that function within the agency.  Students will participate in hands-on demonstrations, be treated to behind-the-scenes tours of agency facilities, and have the opportunity to engage agency personnel in lively and informative question and answer sessions.
This unique opportunity is guaranteed to enhance your understanding to the Sheriff’s Office and provide you with far more insight into how and why things happen in the realm of law enforcement than you will ever learn on an evening newscast.

Since class sizes are limited you are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.  Applicants must be over 18 years old will be required to undergo a routine background check.  The class has no bearing on future employment with the Sheriff’s Office nor can it be used for law enforcement certification.
To learn more about this program or to begin your application process log on to www.ocso.com and download an academy application or, you can obtain an application by calling Ms. Helen Johnston, Academy Coordinator, at 407.254.7389 weekdays during regular business hours.
