OCPS Provides Update after Cybersecurity Incident to Address Misinformation

OCPS issued an update on Canvas after the recent cybersecurity incident, saying there is misinformation spreading in the community.




Orange County Public Schools said the misinformation relates to Canvas and the restoration of the program at OCPS. Because of that, the Central Florida school district provided an update with the most up-to-date information.

Even though Canvas restored system access, due to the recent cybersecurity incident and repeated disruptions, OCPS is “taking a cautious approach” by not restoring full access right away.

As the local IT team reviews data, OCPS expects to restore systems and syncing on May 13th with full user access by May 15th, pending the final review results on May 12th. “Once access is restored, grades will resume syncing from Canvas to Skyward,” OCPS stated.
