As the district prepares for the new school year, OCPS Transportation is making every effort to hire 100 bus drivers and 20 mechanics. Orange County Public Schools will offer competitive compensation and benefits package. New hires will receive a $1,500 sign-on bonus.
Bus driver salary compensation (pending union ratification):
- Benefited pay rates from $16.65 – $19.98 depending on experience
- Up to $9,000 additional incentive pay first year
Mechanic salary compensation (pending union ratification):
- Benefited pay rates from $17.07 – $23.54 depending on experience
Benefits:
- Paid training to get CDL license
- Retirement packages through the Florida Retirement System (FRS)
- Paid employee health insurance valued at $9,289
- Uniform program for bus operators and mechanics
- Paid pre-employment activities – fingerprinting, background checks and drug screenings
