New Administrator Kicks Off National Public Health Week

 

A new administrator, Dr. Swannie Jett, will be introduced to the residents of Seminole County, when he kicks off the celebration and observance tomorrow of National Public Health Week, April 1-7.

Jett, as the new Administrator of the Florida Department of Health in Seminole County has more than 18 years experience in public health and as a Captain in the Air Force. He has been in the Air Force Reserves for 12 years and served in Iraq in 2006-2007.

Dr. Jett will assume his new role tomorrow, Friday, April 5th, at the Florida Department of Health in Seminole County located at 400 West Airport Boulevard in Sanford. 

Additional activities during the National Public Health Week celebration include a display of health department services along with educational materials on important health topics throughout the week at the front entrance of the health department building. On Friday, April 5th free confidential STD testing will be offered from 9:00am-2:00pm.

“Public Health Week is an important week in Seminole County as we showcase the numerous areas of service we provide to this community whether it’s ensuring a safe healthy home, to ensuring safe environments for school children, to protecting people while they are on the move. We are focused on empowering a healthy community,” said Jett, Administrator of the Florida Department of Health in Seminole County.

The public and area residents are invited to welcome Dr. Jett and to celebrate National Public Health Week.
