A United Space Alliance worker fell to this death at NASA Kennedy Space Center’s Launch Pad 39A on Monday morning, bringing to a halt work on space shuttle Endeavour for the rest of the day, a statement from NASA said.
According to the statement, NASA emergency medical personnel responded to the scene, but were unable to revive the man.
The name of the victim has not been released nor details of his death.
Over the week-end, technicians had completed measurements and alignment of space shuttle Endeavor’s external fuel tank ground umbilical carrier plate, at Launch Pad 39A.
Endeavour is scheduled to undertake its final flight STS-134 mission on April 19 with a 6-member crew, with Commander Mark Kelly commanding the mission. He will be joined by Pilot Gregory H. Johnson and Mission Specialists Michael Fincke, Greg Chamitoff, Andrew Feustel and European Space Agency astronaut Roberto Vittori, on the 14-day mission.
