Orange County deputies were looking for a man who shot and killed another man in an apartment complex Sunday afternoon.
Eyewitnesses said the gunman was chasing the victim and shooting at the same time through the Royal Grande Apartments on Rio Grande Avenue.
Once the victim was on the ground, multiple eyewitnesses said the shooter kept firing.
“Next thing you know you here six shots, someone yelled, ‘Ahh!’ Me, I’m frightened, I go in the house man,” said Ronald Johnson, eyewitness.
Deputies said the shooter got away in a green four-door Honda Accord. They swarmed the scene and shut down the entrance to the apartment complex, but were not able to find the suspect.
The victim’s name has not been released. Investigators don’t know if Sunday’s shooting was drug or gang related and said the shooting was the fifth homicide in Orange County in 2009.
