Motorcycle Driver is Orlando’s First Traffic Fatality of 2011

The driver of a motorcycle was killed on Pershing Avenue near Northglen Drive on Tuesday night, after he crashed into a another vehicle, Orlando Police said.

Joshua Adam Goodson, 28, of Poe Avenue in Orlando, was pronounced dead at an area hospital, after being ejected off of his 2005 Suzuki motorcycle in the crash.

Police said that Goodson was heading westbound on Pershing Avenue approaching the intersection of Northglenn Drive when a 2008 Acura MDX, driven by Steven Michael Langston, of Orlando, traveling eastbound on Pershing Avenue was attempting to turn left, onto Northglenn Drive, across the path of the motorcycle.  Foodson struck the right side of the Suzuki and was ejected from the motorcycle.

After the initial crash, a third vehicle, a 1999 Honda Accord, driven by Margaret Thoma Dorman, of Upton Drive in Orlando, struck the motorcycle, causing it to travel and come to a final stop at the southeast corner of the intersection.  Dorman’s vehicle did not hit Goodson.

Goodson was taken to hospital where he pronounced dead.  He was wearing a full face motorcycle helmet and full protective gear at the time of the crash.

Langston and Dorman sustained no injuries.

Goodson death marks the first traffic homicide in Orlando for 2011.
