Trial lawyer John Morgan, who hosts a major fundraiser tonight in Heathrow, near Orlando, for U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson’s re-election campaign, is also one of the top fundraising bundlers nationally for President Obama’s re-election.
The Orlando Sentinel reported Thursday that Morgan has raised $672,000 for Obama’s campaign so far, putting him in the top 15 percent of fundraisers for the president’s re-election campaign.
Citing data from the Center for Responsive Politics, the Sentinel reported that Obama’s top Florida bundler is Stephen Bittell, a real estate investor from Miami Beach, who has raised $804,000.
The event tonight is billed as a fundraiser for Nelson, but two other people who will be there are likely to steal the show. Former President Bill Clinton will attend, as will one of Morgan’s employees at his law firm, former Gov. Charlie Crist, who used to be a Republican, but is supporting Nelson.
