Million Dollar Improvements Planned at Semoran Boulevard Intersection

The Florida Department of Transportation is planning improvements at the intersection of Semoran Boulevard (State Road (S.R.) 436) and University Boulevard/Scarlet Road in Orange County.




According to FDOT, the project plans to reconstruct and upgrade the existing traffic signal to enhance safety for all users.

The project proposes to rebuild the existing traffic signal, including new mast arm pole and new signal heads that will be more visible for drivers and better aligned with the travel lanes.

Proposed improvements in Orange County at the intersection of Semoran Boulevard (State Road (S.R.) 436) and University Boulevard/Scarlet Road include:

  • Traffic Signal Upgrades: Reconstructing the traffic signal with new mast arm poles, and upgrading the signal heads to be more visible and better aligned with the travel lanes.
  • Lighting Improvements: Adding brighter lighting at the intersection to improve visibility at night.
  • Accessibility Enhancements: Rebuilding curb ramps as needed to improve accessibility as required under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

The design phase is ongoing, with completition scheduled for 2026 and $1.2 million for construction is funded for early 2027.
