In celebration of National Bike to Work Day, Mayor Buddy Dyer will lead Orlando residents to travel to work “motor-free” on Wednesday, May 19.
Mayor Dyer encourages all citizens and visitors to celebrate “Bike to Work Day” by riding a bike to work tomorrow and taking an active role in reducing our impact on the environment. As part of this event, participants will also receive a free coffee or tea from Infusion Tea, bike tune-ups and a LYNX one-way bus pass to College Park.
The City of Orlando has been a designated bike-friendly community since 2000 and is home to more than 260 miles of bike trails, signaled routes and lanes. The City promotes biking as a healthy and energy-efficient form of transportation through street policies that make roads safe and accessible to all users; giving away locks, lights, helmets and refurbished bikes; starting the Pedal for Pride bike ride with the Parramore Kidz Zone and working directly with the Orlando Police Department to provide education, safety training and enforcement for bicycling.
WHERE:
Mayor Dyer and Orlando citizens will leave from College Park’s Infusion Tea (1600 Edgewater Drive) with a final destination at City Hall (400 South Orange Avenue).
WHEN:
Wednesday, May 19
Ride starts at 8:00 a.m. at Infusion Tea with arrival at City Hall at approximately 8:30 a.m.
