Mayor Buddy Dyer biked to City Hall this morning in celebration of National Bike to Work Day.
Looking very relaxed and fit and leading a group of about 30 City officials, the Mayor took off from Infusion Tea, in his College Park neighborhood at 8:30 am. He arrived at his work place around 9:30 am.
The City promotes bicycling as a form of transportation through several mechanisms.
Currently, the City incorporates complete streets’ policies to make roads safe and accessible to all users; created the “Got Bikes?..Ride ‘em” community action presentation to educate cyclists and motorists about history, safety, and benefits of bicycling; participates in Pedal for Pride bike ride with the City Kidz and City Teenz of Parramore; and works directly with the Orlando Police Department to provide education, safety training and enforcement for bicycling.
The City of Orlando has been Designated a Bicycle Friendly Community since 2000.
