Mayor Dyer and Nation’s Top Housing Official Tour Neighbor Housing Projects

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer is Joined by Nation’s Top Housing Official to Participate in a Neighborhood Stabilization Program Tour.

WHAT:        Today, United States Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan will join Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and Congressman Alan Grayson to tour areas benefiting from the Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) in Orlando including the Bryn Mawr and Dover Shores neighborhoods.

The City secured $6.7 million from the Department of Housing and Urban Development as part of Mayor Dyer’s Strengthen Orlando initiative to implement a local NSP to address the effects of high foreclosures and declining home values by forming public/private partnerships to purchase, rehabilitate and sell or rent homes.  In addition, this program is assisting low-to moderate-income homebuyers with down payment assistance and financial counseling.

Neighborhoods were identified as NSP target areas based on the number of high risk loans, foreclosure ratio and vacant properties.
