Just prior to 8:30 a.m. today December 17, 2009 a man identified as Cedric Harp, 34, went to an Orlando Police Department substation to report that he believed he had seriously injured his wife.
The incident took place at 1204 Ferndell Road and OPD turned the case over to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies went to the home to check on the well being of Demetria Harp, 35, and found her unconscious. Orange County Fire rescue arrived on scene and pronounced Mrs. Harp dead. There were two children in the home at the time however they were both asleep and have told investigators they heard nothing.
The Harp’s were separating and the suspect was trying to stop his wife victim from leaving the relationship and the home. This turned into an argument which escalated into a violent physical altercation that ended in a fatality.
Cedric Harp has an extensive criminal history and has been charged with 2nd degree murder.
