An Auburndale man has been arrested, after he picked up a 13-year-old Winter Haven school girl last Friday, gave her alcohol and then took her to Pinellas County over the week-end.
Police said, 26-year-old Matthew B. Calvin has been charged with contributing to the deliquency of a minor, interfering with child custody and obscene communication and traveling to meet a minor.
Last Friday, Calvin picking up Lorei Parkins, 13, at a local Wal-Mart after she left Denison Middle School and took her to Auburndale. Along with another unknown male, the three consumed alcohol then headed to the Sunshine Skyway Bridge in St. Petersburg to go fishing.
Police said, Calvin and Parkins had reportedly met through an online dating service and started talking on November 25. She contacted Calvin on December 2, and asked him to pick her up.
They said, Parkins had gotten into a cab near Gandy Boulevard and started traveling back to Polk County on Saturday night. That’s when authorities intercepted the cab around 9:00 p.m., and brought Parkings back to Winter Haven to be reunited with her family.
Calvin was charged with several counts, including contributing to the deliquency of a minor.
Authorities said, Calvin has an extensive criminal history, including multiple domestic violence charges, drug charges burglary and grand theft. He is being held in the Polkc County Jail without bond.
