A man who strangled his girlfriend, poured gasoline on her and threatened to set their apartment on fire remains at large.     And Orange County deputies would like your help in apprehending him.

Luis Piedra-Redrovan, wanted by Orange County deputies

At approximately 12:35 AM today Orange County Deputies responded to the Harbor Beach Condominiums at Lake Margaret and South Semoran Boulevard in reference to a domestic battery.

Upon arrival deputies made contact with a 22 year old female who advised that, during an argument with her live in boyfriend Luis Piedra-Redrovan, 31 years, she was strangled to the point where she lost consciousness.  When she recovered from the attack she awoke to find the suspect pouring gasoline in their residence and threatening to set their apartment, which was also occupied by their four year old child, on fire.

The victim was able to calm suspect Piedra-Redrovan down and convinced him to spend the night in a motel to escape the strong odor of gasoline that permeated the apartment.  After securing her son inside the couple’s vehicle the woman was able to get inside, lock the doors, and drive away, leaving the suspect in the parking lot.  It was at that point she was able to notify the Sheriff’s Office of the incident.

During their investigation deputies noted a strong smell of gasoline on the victim’s clothing and evidence of the assault on her face and neck.  Orange County Fire Rescue responded to the condominium with deputies and affirmed the presence of an accelerant in the apartment along with physical evidence that supported the victim’s allegations.

During the investigation deputies made telephone contact with suspect Piedra-Redrovan.  During the contact he agreed to turn himself in.  However, he failed to return to the incident scene.  Several subsequent attempts to contact the suspect by phone were unsuccessful.

The suspect remains at large.

Anyone with information on Piedra-Redrovan’s whereabouts is asked to call Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS (8477).
