Man Shoots into Vehicle, Injures One on Orange East Side

A 29-year-old Orlando man who fired shots into a vehicle injuring one of its occupants on Wednesday afternoon, has been arrested.

Orlando police say, an officer working a crash in the area of Semoran Boulevard and Lake Underhill heard shots ring out.  The officer went to the area of the shots and that’s when he came upon Carlos Jose Gaston actively shooting into another vehicle.

Gaston, 29, was ordered to the ground and later taken into custody.

Police say, the victim of the shooting, 34-year-old Wilmer Torres-Orengo was struck once in the arm.  He was transported to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.   Police also say, Torres-Orengo does not want to press charges against Gaston.

Gaston has been charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle and aggravated child abuse.   He was booked into the Orange County Jail.
