A 22-year-old Edgewater man was killed early on Monday morning on County Road 4137, after the vehicle he was driving struck several trees, troopers said.
The crash happened around 4:40 p.m., in Volusia County.
The unnamed driver traveled off the roadway onto the west shoulder of Old Mission Road and the 1995 Dodge struck several trees.
Troopers said, the front end of the vehicle became detached from the passenger compartment.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers are awaiting toxicology results to determine whether or not alcohol played a role in the crash.
