Man connected to Orlando teen’s disappearance faces new charge

Orange County deputies have filed another charge against Sanel Saint Simon, the man arrested in connection with a missing teen and whose body it is believed was recovered near the Osceola-Polk Line Road last Friday.

On Monday, Saint Simon, 43, was charged with a felony, obstruction of a criminal investigation – giving false information to a law enforcement officer.  Last Wednesday, he was charged with giving false information to law enforcement and attempted destruction of evidence in the disappearance of Alexandria Chery, 16.

Chery, went missing one week ago on July 28.  A decomposed body of a young black female was recovered on August 1st. And while the Medical Examiner has not positively identified the body as Chery’s, the teen’s family confirmed it is her.

According to deputies, a witness observed a black Pontiac vehicle it is believed Saint Simon was driving on the side of the roadway one week ago on Monday, in the area where Chery’s body was recovered and the day she went missing.

Investigators found blood inside the vehicle.

Saint Simon, a long-time boyfriend of Chery’s mother, is being held in the Orange County Jail on no bond.  He will make a first appearance before a judge on Tuesday afternoon.

Family and friends have held several vigils to celebrate the life of the missing teen.
