East Side Boyfriend Turns Rapist

A Puerto Rican-born man is in jail for stalking and attempted rape of his ex-girlfriend on Tuesday in east Orlando, Orlando Police said.

Luis Angel Gonzalez Santiago

Luis Angel Gonzalez Santiago, 27, of Gatehouse Circle, was arrested at the end of Wild Horse Road inside the Starlight Ranch Mobile home park around 7:00 pm on Tuesday, November 9, after fleeing from his former girlfriend’s home that he had broken into.

Police learned from the victim that she and Gonzales had been living together for about two and-a-half years up until recently.  The victim told detectives that she had agreed to drive Gonzales to his Probation Officer on Tuesday. She returned home leaving Gonzales outside, and then left again.  Once home again around 1:45 pm, the victim told detectives that Gonzales entered through her front door, locked her in her bedroom and attempted to rape her.

The victim said she fought off Gonzales and was able to escape by running to her vehicle.  Gonzales also jumped into the back of the vehicle, the victim told detectives.

She said she attempted to report the matter at a Community Patrol Office, but had to leave before doing so to collect her children from school.

Later on Tuesday, the victim told detectives that she went to a Wal-mart store on south Goldenrod Road around 4:08 pm, and Gonzales followed her there, pulling at her hair.  Subsequently, Gonzales returned to the victim’s home and entered the residence through the victim’s bedroom window.

Investigators were called to the victim’s home but Gonzales fled the scene.  He was detained at the end of Wild Horse Road, inside the Starlight Ranch Mobile home park.  Detectives found evidence that Gonzales had armed himself with two kitchen knives while inside the victim’s residence.  The victim’s children were also at home when investigators were searching for Gonzales.
