After more than eight years, Orange County deputies arrested a suspect and charged him with the murder of another man.
Jason Gailey, 33, was arrested today for the murder of Ronald Johnson.
According to investigators, the incident, which occurred at 2250 Raeford Road, off S. Bumby Avenue, was reported as a bicycle accident on June 27, 2005. Subsequently, Johnson died as a result of head injuries he sustained on July 6, 2005.
Then the case went cold. But detectives assigned to the Unresolved Death Investigations re-opened the case and conducted extensive interviews with witnesses, which led to today’s arrest.
Investigators declined to say how exactly Johnson was killed and the relationship, if any, between the two men.
Gailey is currently being interviewed by detectives of the OCSO Central Operations and will be transported to the Booking Facility around 7:30 p.m. He has been charged with second degree murder.
